Computer viruses can cause all kinds of different symptoms on your PC.

To determine whether your computer has been infected with a virus, you should look for one or more of the following things:

• your computer seems unusually slow
• the internet connection is unusually slow
• your computer switches off while connected to the internet
• unusual error messages popping up on screen
• programs crashing or slowing down when they're open
• documents or folders changing size, name or date
• unusual screen activity

but please be aware that it doesn't mean that everything that goes wrong with your computer is due to a virus infection.
